I was lucky to have been chosen to join this group of talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the globe. I am from northern Québec so my posts will be bilingual.

Hop along with us as we show off products from the new Mini Catalogue August-December. Each demonstrator will be sharing a project created from product from the new catalogue.

I just love the ever so new popular slimline cards, so I wanted to make one using the new Poinsettia collection that I love so much.

In order to be able to use regular 8 -1/2 cardstock, I cut a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 Real Red cardstock to 7 x 8-1/2 to make the base of the card. (a slight change from others) Using my Simply Score I scored down the middle on the 7 inch side at 3-1/2. Simple right? I then cut a piece of Very Vanilla at 3-3/8″ x 6-7/8″. I then stamped a partial Poinsettia in the top right and bottom left corners, stamped the sentiment in VersaMark, sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder and heat set. Since my stamping was off center a bit I then stamped the branch in Old Olive. This brought the green inside the card as well. This was glued to the inside of the card.

For the outside of the card, I cut a piece of the beautiful Designer Series Paper at 6-7/8 x 3/3/8. Using the long slender rectangle from the Ornate Style dies, I cut out the DSP near the top. Using a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock cut at about 6-1/2 x 2-3/4. I placed the Vanilla cardstock behind the hole and marked the top left and bottom right to give me an idea where to stamp my sprig of berries in Old Olive and then colored the berries with my light Real Red Stampin’ Blends. With the Very Vanilla cardstock glued behind the DSP, I then prepared my Poinsettia and Leaves.

I stamped two medium Poinsettias and two small ones in Real Red ink on Real Red cardstock, cut them out with the matching dies, curled the petals with my bone folder and layered each flower with a dimensional, making sure to stagger each layer. Of course I added Wink of Stella on all the petals of each layer. I then stamped and die cut two leaves, curled them with my bone folder and glue all to the middle as in the photo. I did use a dimensional under the Poinsettia so the petals would keep their curl and added the beaded pearls in the center of the Poinsettia with a couple of glue dots.

The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Gold Embossing powder as on the inside of the card. It was die-cut with a stitched rectangle and glued to the bottom with dimensionals.
A ribbon was wrapped around and a bow tied using the sheer Real Red ribbon from the collection.
All was glued to the card base.

The envelope was created using a piece of DSP from the collection Poinsettia Petals and cut to 8-1/2″ x 11″. It was scored on the 8-1/2″ side at 2-1/2″ and 6-1/2″. On the 11″ side it was scored at 1-1/2″ and 10-1/2″. The four corners were cut out. (see image). Reinforce the folds. Cut even angles on the two flaps. The two side flaps are folded in and glued. The small flap is folded up and glued. A half circle was punched at the back top and the top flap was corner punched. You could decorate it with a border die.
